Have you ever thought if cheerleading is really a sport? Well if you are thinking it is not a real sport, think again, it is a sport. There is strategy in it like every other sport uses, like memorizing the cheers for example. Every cheerleader has to remember each and everyone of the cheers to get the crowd happy and excited for each of the teams that they are cheering for. Another strategy that each cheerleader has to do is read your audience, for example if they are not excited or if they are excited they want to keep it that way. If they are just sitting there, they want to keep them very happy that our team is playing their hardest. Cheerleaders have to know how each stunt goes and when they are suppose to do it. Like for example when they do a touchdown cheer, they have to remember how they do it otherwise the fans will never know what is going on and they think that you do not know what just happened. The stunts make the crowd more energetic and then they want to keep cheering on our team so that they know that there is always something good going on for them.
Like every other team, cheerleaders go to competitions. Football players compete to win a game. Cheerleaders compete to win a competition to see which squad is the most preppy and happy squad around. Each and every competition is put together like the super-bowl. People want to watch and see who wins and see who made it through without loosing one game. Well that’s like a cheerleading competition, but it isn't football. These cheerleaders practice and practice for hours and hours, day by day, week by week, and so on, but what some people don't think of is how much time and effort they put into it, so that's why they say it's not really a sport when it is. Like every other sport, cheerleading is a sport where they can get very injured and may never be able to compete again. In football guys get very hurt and will never be able to play again because they got it bad, that is the same way with cheerleaders. Doing what you love, is something that everyone likes doing, but not always a good thing when you get injured.
The injuries in cheerleading are really bad. It has more injuries than actual American Football and more injuries than rugby. Think of it this way, when your feet are first 5 or 6 feet already in the air and your head is probably 9 or 10 feet up in the air, and your bases aren't able to hold you any longer what do you think will happen when the flyer falls forward and no one will catch them? They are going to get very injured and may have to quite all of their sports they where playing because they have to be careful for the rest of their life. So now are you changing your mind about cheerleading being a real sport???? Well stunting is like getting tackled by a 200 pound guy without any padding on, yeah you are going to get hurt like every other sport you see. That is the same way with cheerleading and it causes more deaths and permanent injuries that could cause families moments in life that make them fell sad about their son or daughter.
Why is cheerleading a sport? It is a sport because, think of all of the other sports that you see on
T.V. or go too, people get hurt that think of ways to beat the other team. Well that is the same thing with cheerleading. If you every think of ways that cheerleading can't be a sport, well that will make you even wonder more if they use it. Pretty much everything that you use in cheerleading, you use in any other sport you see. So next time if you see someone and they are wondering if it is a sport, and they are saying no, correct them and give them examples on how it is just like any other sport you see with injuries and strategies.
