December Dust

Art Museum Epic Poem:
As I sit in the living room
Thinking why I don't want anything…….
But pie.
Just. Pie.
Shelves and Shelves of pie sit in my fridge.
Not good enough for my mother
That I like pie
I crave pie
Something that we all resist
Just a tasty, thanksgiving desert that we all have
Those poor thanksgiving pies that aren’t able to be seen anymore.
All of those people that love paintings of pie are sad
Nothing we can do
Fills our mouth with a sweet and savory taste
I have a piece
Delightful
What delicious refrigerator pies
Anything that I could do to have these come back
I adore it the piece, gaze at it bit by bit
Scrumptious
My mother still doesn’t like me eating them
All made by Wayne Thiebaud
Since the day he was born
In 1920, his pies are wonderful
The day he was born
That was when we all knew he could make such great pies
Pies that no one can sacrifice ever
Never
Then came 2007 and no one was able to enjoy his pies anymore

Speak Essay:
Being in high school is one of the hardest times of a person's life. With all of the harassing and having pressure on doing things that they shouldn't be doing, such as, drugs, a teenager has many personal challenges to face. This is a way of saying that there are people that are stuck with things and if something happened to them, they are afraid of doing things they will always regret it. In addition o that, people who are raped can affected for the rest of their life because they don't know what to do and how to deal with it. Melinda, the main character of "SPEAK" is one of those many that get terribly hurt her freshman year of high school.
Between your 8th grade year and your freshman year is always a hard time for everyone, even if you don't know it. Melinda is starting her freshman year and she isn't very happy with being raped during the summer by a senior. When those kinds of things happen, most are very terrified of many things and terrified of doing things with the opposite kind of human being. Every six minutes a women or a girl is raped, how does that make most feel? Having a chance that there is someone on their way to come and rape you, some people are very terrified after they have done something regret, but after this happens, they are even more terrified. Thinking of anything like that can terrify any kind of living creature about getting raped and getting killed if something like that had happened to them like that and then the really do regret it a lot.
Melinda is a student that doesn't really care about school. She wants to get good grades, but she can't stop thinking about "IT," Andy, the guy that had raped her. Every time she is around him, Melinda feels really uncomfortable. Her grades are way below average, but not even trying won't help her. Having an A in art is the only grade on her report card that really stands out because she gets to express how she feels about things going on in her life. Not focusing in things like school is really hard for her. Knowing that her parents are together just for her is a challenge for her, because they are always fighting with each other. When she has days where she doesn't bother to do her homework or focus in on school it just brings her grades down, but as the year goes on her grades improve in some areas but go down in others.
Starting high school is always a challenge for everyone, being the youngest and not being able to do as many things as the seniors get to do, and are always get picked on. Melinda has it worse. She starts the year off with no friends because all of her other friends had left her. She finally meets a new girl named Heather. They both have gotten along since the beginning of the school year, but her issue is, is that she has an attitude with her. Not wanting to any clubs through the school, not wanting to do any sports. Melinda had such an attitude with her, that Heather finally said that if Melinda doesn't want to join anything through the school or join anything together that they are not able to be friends with each other. Their friendship wasn't very strong from the begging but if they were able to do stuff together and if they could find something more in common, the friendship would be stronger.
High school is hard for everyone to understand and get. Not everyone is a perfect person and some people need to understand that. Others just can't be friends with each other, because if they have nothing in common or one has an attitude with the other, it just doesn't work out with being friends. Hardest of all understanding the concept of knowing that there is always someone being raped and a lot of them are coming from high school students. Not knowing what is going to happen to is hard to predict but most of all, hard to get over after something good or even bad happens.
